Most Common Workers Compensation Claims in Massachusetts

It is an employer’s responsibility to ensure a safe working environment. When they fail to do so, accidents happen, and the injured worker has the right to file a claim. If you have been injured in a workplace because of the negligence of your employer or a colleague, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact a personal injury or workers compensation lawyer in Massachusetts.

Some of the most common workplace injuries include:

  • Assault. Unfortunately, violence does occur in the workplace. High-pressure jobs and close working quarters make violence one of the most common causes of injuries at the workplace.
  • Vehicle accidents. Automobile accidents can occur in a workplace parking lot, or when jobs require the use of a car. Always contact the police and medics if you are involved in an accident.
  • Repetitive motion injuries. Typing, working on a factory assembly line, and other repetitive tasks can cause injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. This is a very painful condition caused by a compression of the key Median nerve in the wrist.
  • Overexertion injuries. This is the most common type of injury in the workplace and is usually caused by heavy lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing. Even in office environments, people injure themselves trying to do too much.
  • Slips and falls. Slips and falls can happen in many ways in the workplace. When mopped floors are left wet and without a precautionary sign, walkways are not properly maintained, or materials are left unattended, the employer is at risk of being negligent.

Injuries at the workplace are fairly common, even in work environments that are not considered typically dangerous. Always use caution when performing any sort of physical task, and if you feel your job is damaging your health, speak with a personal injury lawyer.
